Emcraft Systems' starter kit for STMicroelectronic's STM32F7 microcontrollers is specifically designed to run uClinux and comes complete with a professionally supported Linux distribution. The kit is based on the STM32F7 SOM, which is Emcraft Systems' compact (30 mm x 46 mm) STM32F7 mezzanine module. The STmicro STM32F7 microcontroller combines a 200 MHz 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 processor core with an integrated SDRAM interface and a powerful set of sophisticated I/O peripherals in a single chip. By combining the STM32F7 microcontroller with 32 MB SDRAM, 16 MB NOR Flash and an Ethernet PHY on a single module, the SOM-STM32F7 provides a perfect platform for evaluation and development of uClinux on STM32F7 devices.

The SOM interfaces to a baseboard (SOM-BSB-EXT) using two 80-pin interface connectors. The SOM-BSB-EXT baseboard includes standard I/O interfaces such as Ethernet, USB Serial, JTAG and other I/O, and makes uncommitted I/O available on 2mm headers. This 2mm breadboard area enables the connection of application-specific I/O logic to the STM32F7 for prototype development.
